Battery Replacement Interval

Nissan batteries have been known to go 8 or more years, but I live in New England and I always replace mine at the 3-4 year interval, working or not.

There's no better investment for reliability at this point. You never know what really inconvenient or dangerous time it will decide to quit.

My recommendation: The gold DieHard or the Ford MotorCraft.

Just a point of reference is that the battery in my 95 Maxima SE and a 95 Ford F250 truck at work each lasted 5.5 years before suddenly going out (ie, they worked in the morning, but died during a brief stop). This was near Chicago.

I have 3 cars, well 4 counting the '94 Maxima sleeping in my garage. I'm in a very cold weather area, Alberta Canada. Recently purchased 3 used cars, 98 Ford Contour, 99 Camry, and 99 Taurus -- all still have their original batteries and are working fine. However I am considering new batteries all around this fall.

I second the GoldDieHard from Sears when they are on sale. and I never keep them over 4 Years am sure they can last longer but don't like being stranded with a dead Batt.

Well I'll second the Interstate battery, they seem to be the most trouble free ones I've seen. 3-4 years is about a normal lifespan.

So I'll add my experience since my battery died (as in kaput) in a service station yesterday. '96 Max SE, 82K miles, bought Oct 95.

OEM lasted until July 01 (almost 6 years) Exide July 01-Oct 04 (3 years 3 months) $29 for in warranty replacement (84 month warranty) Car is in San Jose, California.
