try quite a bit of oil the locks never been used

Ta - but locks have been used all the time, as it's not remote. Anyway, I'll try the oil.

Hi Gobbo
The lock barrel is connected to the door lock with a pin. The pin is held in position with plastic clips, which allow the movement necessary to lock/unlock the door. If the pin slides out of the plastic clip, the results are exactly as you describe.

Thanks for all your advice - really appreciated! Tried the oil & the lock is functioning beautifully again - that's great (thanks 'Mindwipe' in particular!).
Ivar - are you up in Iceland?
