406 indicator stalk + LCD display failure

Sep 23, 2007 7 Replies

Hi All,

2002 406 Rapier, 90 bhp.

The indicator stalk is misbehaving - when I straighten up after a right turn the stalk drops right down and starts indicating left, instead of cancelling properly - this has caused a couple of near misses with people waiting at junctions thinking I am going to turn in.

Are these things easy to replace/repair, and has anyone any idea on price?

Secondly, the area of the display that indicates the time has gone dim, I preseume one of the leds has failed. Again, is this easy to fix?

TIA,

Neil.

Refer to my earlier post (30/08/07 and reply from Chris Hodges: (Peugeot 406 1998 1.8 LX headlight and indicator stalk arm switch.)

A new indicator stalk arm switch cost me £41.00 from Peugeot dealer.

I think you will find that the display is back lit by bulbs and one of them has blown.

Tx, I'll give it a go.

Neil.

Ta. Any idea how to get at these?

Neil.

Lever it out with a small screwdriver. At least that's what I did on mine for the clock display when that went, then the radio display when that popped a couple of weeks later.

ok. So the individual panels pop out when you screwdriver them from the side?

Neil.
