Airbag sensor

Jul 01, 2004 4 Replies

I have a 1999 406 2 litre petrol auto exec model.

Apart from an intermittent Speedo fault, still unresolved, the air bag sensor is now playing up. On occasions the airbag indicator on the dash will stay on all the time, or stay on then go off or flash about once a second. It looks like a sticky relay but that is just a guess. Has anyone experienced this or have any useful suggestions please.

Always try a search in the group before posting. You will find numerous posts on this problem. The fix is to replace manual joiners under the seat with soldered links. Your local Peugeot specialist should know of this fix - mine in Canberra, Australia did (after I learnt of it in this group) and it cured the problem.

I have a Peugeot 307 and suffered the very same problem, the Air Bag warning light intermittantly showing. The main dealer first checked the under seat connectors and verified them OK. The fault was traced to a defective indicator stalk assembly called COM

2000, these had been a source of trouble etc. The cars been no problem since.

My old Ford Granada used to have problems with warning lights flashing on intermitently, a mate who knows a thing or two about cars had a look and put a drill through the offending lights.

Certainly solved the problem as the car was only a £50 bang-bang.

Doesn't really help the above but it does sound like a sticky relay or something.

bit of a pointless reply really maybe you should go back to your rock and get under it
