I have had a couple of people come up to me and ask me do diesels have a choke.if so what revs should the engine read before it is warm and comes off choke. this is new to me .thanks from chris Addlestone

Diesels don't have a choke. They will start and run as cold as you like provided the fuel isn't waxing. What a lot of modern diesels have is a fast idle where they will run faster until the coolant is warmed up so you get heat from the heater rather quicker than otherwise. Typically they will be set to idle at 1000 where normal idle will be
750.
Not chokes as such. The earlier XUD's had a fast idle device, a cable operated wax thingy that was situated on the stat. The later diesels are electronically managed for fast idle when cold. Fast idle should be around 1000.
