My household currently consists of a 106 1.1, a 309 GTi, a 205 Dt, my Volvo

360 GLT, a Spitfire and our newly aquired 309 Mi16. Between me, my housemate and a few others our new bit of kit is getting turned into a stage car, and we'll be going rallying :)

Hi,

The Spitfire has a nice look, although I don't really know Triumph's (but I know my neighbour had a TR4), but in fact my point is I thought the 309 Mi16 (GTI16 here) was not exported to UK ?

Its a normal RHD 8v GTi with a 1.9 16v engine transplanted into it. An original would be LHD and very expensive over here!

Carl,

If you ever end up with any XU engines going spare, please let me know ;) I want my 305 Mi16 - man, I'd love to race you round the track in that!!!

Chris.

Hi Chris,

It must rock with 160HP out of a 305, and would look fun to see a 305 chasing a 309 :-)

Hello,

For sure. And less convenient to drive on UK roads (I guess the steering wheel at the left hand of the car isn't perfect).

Well it would mostly be used on stage rallies so that isnt an issue, and also the guy thats gonna drive lived in Belgium for 5 years so is used to driving both LHD and RHD cars. Unfortunately its simply cheaper to buy/ make a 8v conversion. An original would have been great!
