Ok I've lost my spare, I think it was in the jacket that vanished out of the back when I drove home with the tailgate partly open (carrying a bed if you must know). Anyway SWMBO takes the remaining key to Peugeot today who say it's laser cut and will cost £140 to replace! Timpsons say it's a main dealer only job too. Any other solutions?
I think I could possibly make one. I don't care about the plipper function but I do need a spare key if I carry on this way!
Sounds like main dealer B*ll*x. there is no need for keys to be cut with a laser. no main dealer could afford the cost of a laser cutter. The charge will be related to the market price of the electronics in the key. I don't know how the immobiliser in the 406 works (I have a 95, 405 with numberic keypad)but I suspect that a simple mechanical key will not work.

The remote C/L is not so important, but what you do need is the transducer chip in the key, as the immobiliser will not work without it. Whether Pug will do that option alone I don't know. They will either have to order a chip coded to your car, or get your car to accept the new chip. It's the price we pay for better security. If we didn't have the "people" who consider that helping themselves to your car was an acceptable way of making a very good living, these costs would not arise.
Plenty advertised on ebay as well as programming instructions if you don't have the owners handbook.
