1999 Grand AM Velocity joints

I just noticed a fairly loud clicking sound coming from the front of my Grand Am. I suspect it is the Velocity joints and I am wondering are they re-buildable or just replacement only? Anyone have experience with them?

Oh, we always called those CV Joints/boots, yeah you probably want to just replace them, the cost of repacking them with grease and all that is time consuming and frustrating, moreso then just replacing them.

A velocity joint is a movable coupling attached to each front wheel. there is one on each side of the axles they allow the axle to transmit power to the wheel even though the wheel is free to turn from side to side. They use balls I and a yoke i think...

They were american made GM vehicles, so I never had to replace them thus I didnt do that much research into them :P

And U joint is universal joint.
