Well the beast that didn't want to start and then would and then wouldn't off and on for awhile now went to dealer yesterday and came out today with a new fuel pump:

$1106 (ouchie) plus 2 recalls done

My husband is quite growly right now about it. And of course is intimating that it is my fault because I sold him the car - (who says women are dumb :-)

Well the dumb one is him - he pretty much knew it was the fuel pump and yet tight wad that he is, he bought a $230 code reader just to read the code that would tell him he needed a new fuel pump. Go figure.

$1106 all for a new fuel pump?? Please tell me other work was done.

Nope - Dave Wheaton Pontiac Buick in Victoria BC quoted $650 for the pump, $250 approx labour and $100 for diagnosis plus pst, gst. Jenner Chev Olds said the pump would cost $1000. Seems very excessive to me.

I use to live in Saskatoon and we had Wheaton there as well. I had a 85 pontiac parrissene ( I think that is how you spell it LOL), anyways I took my car there once to see what was the matter with the wipers. I told them not to do a thing untill they talked to me, well they went ahead and repaired in without my consent, to the tune of $300.00!!!!!!!!! I made them take everything out that they put in, at first they said the parts were gone, but surprising once I went up one side and down the other of the service manger, those parts suddenly showed up. That was the last time I every took my car there. Went to another place and $50.00 later it was fixed .>> $1106 all for a new fuel pump?? Please tell me other work was done.

Not familiar with Canadian exchange rates. I'm hoping it's about 2:1. I do not that the entire fuel pump module is typically very expensive -- $300-350 US or so.
