'98 Bonneville (Hesitated Acceleration)

Since owning @ 35k now @ 102k, car will sometimes hesitate from a stop light. Almost feels like it's flooding. If you push harder on the pedal it slows the car further, almost like it's choking, but not making any sound. In order to regain power & not get nailed by oncoming traffic, you have to take your foot off & then begin again with newly regained power.

Anybody have an idea what causes this & when they drive it, it doesn't happen. The dealers don't & of course don't have a Technical Bulletin on it.

Sounds like a weak fuel pump or a restricted catalytic converter. Based on the intermittent nature your post implies, I'd start checking fuel pressure first.
