I need to replace the front hub on my 98 GP. The local parts houses do not have a puller to rent or buy. Is the half shaft tapered? Is light hammer beating acceptable? The spline is clean. Any suggestions?

Shouldn't take more than a light tap with a rubber mallet or wood handle of a hammer. The half shaft does not fit that tightly in the hub.....or at least it doesn't on my 2000.

It should slide right off with little effort. The half shaft is not tapered.
