98 GP OEM Pads

Took the '98 GTP in to have the brakes done. Guy there claims ceramics were OEM pads on the GTP's. Did they even have ceramic pads in '98? I opted for the semi-metalics.

I don't believe that they had ceramics back then either. I thought that they are fairly new myself
