flickering headlights ga 1996

Hey I've got a couple mods in my 1996 grand am. A system, nothing big, and it has a capacitor, a dvd player and screen, and some neons. I'm on my third alternator which sucks, now this one passes the output tests as normal, but the lights flicker, dash, headlights, dome lights, everything. Does anyone have advice? Do you think taking some of the extras out would help, or should i get a high output alternator?

My advice would be to de-rice it. Lose the "dvd player and screen, and some neons".

Sounds like the alternator is going bad. Are you buying cheap alternators? A decent, normal, non-high output alternator will cost around $160.

Get a high output alternator, also an underhood ground wire augmentation kit would be a good idea. Maybe a 2nd battery in the trunk with an isolator as well.

Also, remove and clean (mini die-grinder with sanding disc works great) the ground wire connections on the engine block and car body. GW
