New GTO Deserves a Chance

Yeah, it doesn't have the hoodscoop, but 35k gets you a RWD V8 350hp and excellent handling. At 35K, Bimmer and Caddy are giving you only V6's.

But was it really too much to ask GM for a soupçon of style? As a triple Tin Indian owner, I was thrilled to hear about the new GTO coming back to Pontiac but then I saw that it looked like a Honda. If I want a Honda, I'll buy an Acura!

Give me verticle headlights!

Too much money. Every damn option is standard equipment driving the price out of the market that the car is made for. The median age for the Trans Am was 54 years old because the price was too high. The only buyers with that kind of cash are men having their mid-life crisis. Small market there ... Same thing will happen with the GTO.

To drop 35 grand on a vehicle most people need to buy something more practical

yes it was alot of money, but it was a helluva good looking car, and for a v6 with the technology that they had, imagine what they could do now to that V6.

WHO??

Yeah, the GNX still had classic styling and was designed when there was still "car people" at GM. You could loose the new '04 GTO in a parking lot with all the other bland jellybean cars.

I'll at least go sit in the new GTO when the dealer gets one.

If I want speed I'll buy the 8.0 V8 Silverado.

I want to sit in one too. I'll bet it's just like everything else.... If I scoot back for leg room I can't reach the s-wheel. Although that '89 Regal I had WAS almost as comfy as my '70 GTO. GW

Dude, the Commodore/Monaro platform is comfortable. And this is coming from driving my baby *sniff*

Don't fret about that. And believe it. It will be THE Bimmer killer. The Monaro is a very powerful and well behaved sportscar. Believe me damnit!

Nick.

Funny how things pan out when we actually make things in the United States, isn't it?

Yeah, and all you "old" folk made us wear bicycle helmets, can't go on swings upside down, playgrounds are "too dangerous", play little league games where no one wins... all we have left is sniffing glue and playing Playstation 2.

:-)

LOL
