Am considering buying a new Porsche coupe. Never owned a Porsche, but it's time to indulge. Any recommendations about: a) C4S vs C2 b) Advisability of driving any Porsche on bad wintery roads? I have a BMW 540i as well. Would probably keep the latter in New York City and the Porsche in a house in KY, and therefore probably not use it for weeks on end.

You'll probably never notice the difference apart from extra maintenance costs for the C4.
Just take it easy and switch to winter tires, no problem at all. Lots of C4 being thrashed around the Alps in lousy weather.
The battery will be flat after a week so you will need a trickle charger, there are some that fit into the cigar lighter socket. If it's like mine, a month without running will cause the air box to fill with oil thus contaminating the catalyst, the handbrake to rust on, the starter motor to fail and the gear selector mechanism to lock. Other than that it should be fine.

Well the C4s has the widebody and the C2 has the narrow body. The performance will be basically the same. The wet weather handling of the
4s will be superior due to the all wheel drive system. Not use it for weeks on end? Not good for any car. But get a battery maintainer, so at least it will start when you drive it. Good luck and you probably can't go wrong with either car...buy the one YOU like the best.JR
