if your job allows it. start your engine whilst ur loading the car up in a monring. it'll also do the car good aswell as you. But dont do the obvious thing and put the heater to full adn the fan on 4.

that gets reid of what little heat there is.. simply put it on 1 or 2 and allow the car engine to warm up if you start on full power it'll take longer for the car to warm up anyway.

Just goes to show how thermally efficient diesels can be. I agree that it takes three or four miles to heat up but the only heat control settings I tend to use this time of the year are three quarter heat plus aircon to clear the screen.

A friend finally took the plunge and moved up into the diesel world. Said it was rather disconcerting to sit in a traffic jam and watch the temp gauge go down rather than up, and without the melody of the rad fan going full pelt. More than could be said for other....petrol cars...in the same traffice jam.

Don't turn it on until it's warm ! By having the heater on, you're stopping it from heating up.
