Before BMW did the dirty on Rover was the K-series engine destined for the new Mini?
If it wasn't does anybody know why?
The reason for asking is that the Mini's engine, which I think I read as being a Chrysler engine?, often gets criticised. Whereas the K-series seems to always get the thumbs up.

There was As far as I can remember, some discussion about the homologation for the USA and other countries being a problem.
