9-3 fuel consumption problem after 96k km service

Hello, I just had the 96 000 km service on my 2002 9-3 (5 doors). They change all the oils, filters and spark plugs on the car. Also I have changed the battery because it was dying on me.

Before the service I was averaging 7.5 l / 100 km on the highways and

10 l / 100 km in the city. I do a bit more highway then city roads like 60/40. With a full tank I was able to do 550 - 650 km ... 700km if I was lucky

Since the service, my fuel consumption way up. I'm averaging 10 l /

100km on higheways and 14 l / 100 km in the city and went from 550 - 650 km to 400 - 500km with a full tank. I didn't change my driving habits.

I'm not a mechanics but I was wondering if the ECU will adjust the fuel consumption by it self. Do I need to get it programmed? By replacing the battery have I unprogram something.

Any help would be appreciated.

Season Greetings to all Saab lovers.

Well, yes it will, but not to the degree you've experienced.

Have you checked the tyre pressures or for a binding brake? Often it's the simpler things that cause such a large change in fuel consumption.
