I've an '89 900 16v turbo which I'm keen to improve on looks and performance and have a couple of questions -

- Has anyone successfully fixed a sagging headlining ? - and with what ?

- How easy is it to remove and replace the body kit (for spraying the body) ?

- Is it a feasible DIY option to replace the power steering on these ? - I'm no mechanic, but have done this before on an Isuzu Trooper before.

- What can be added/replaced to increase the BHP at modest cost - £200ish ?

Any info would be much appreciated,

Steve

Yes, lots of us have done it. You remove the headliner shell, clean it up, fit new lining material and refit. It'll take you a day or so, but is well worth it.

Pretty easy. It's attached via long U channels, so can be pulled off.

That's a pretty straightforward job too. It has a couple od fiddly bits, and you'll need to cut down a spanner to get to one union, but it's not bad. Rebuilt racks are about £150.

With any tuning, you *must* start with the basic engine systems. That means ignition and fuel. So start off by replacing the plugs, leads, cap, rotor arm, coil, air filter, fuel filter, oil change. There goes your £200.

BTW, if you've just bought it, it's probably a good time to change the coolant, thermostat and brake fluid too.
