Boost issue?

Hi all, my newly bought '99 9-3 (just moved from a '95 900...) bucks hard under heavy acceleration. At around 4k rpm under load.



Just replaced both the DI cassette (apparently one plug was firing intermittently), and the Turbo Solenoid... apparently there was too much boost, and the ecm was throttling back rather than damage the engine...



Before it went to the mech's, the check engine light was on.. now, i have it back, and the check engine light is off, and it appears to run a bit smoother, but the hard buck still remains at higher rpms...



Any ideas? I'm excited to get this turbo up and fully running.. the old 900 was a v6, and certainly didn't have this kind of kick...

Update:

It appears that we just need to shorten the rod... still too much boost...

Surely you lengthen the wastegate rod to slack off boost, not shorten it, but that will affect base boost as well as max boost.

thanks Carl, as is probably obvious, my knowledge of turbos is entirely lacking.... I'm looking for a good book on them right now... thanks,

Try Corky Bell "Maximum Boost" It is usually mentioned when talking turbo theory.
