Buzzing noise

A couple of years ago my 9000 emitted the same buzzing from near the radio controls. I'm not sure if your 9-3 has the same system, but it was the sensor for the climate control. Set amongst the cluster next to the radio, circular grill. My mechanic popped the grill off and removed the unit which has a small fan. It was loaded with dust and lint. Cleaned it off and it was fine. LisaAnn

Now that was good timing - I have just started to hear exactly such a noise from my 9000 CDE. I thought it might be the clock but it turns out to be the same little fan - I will clean it tomorrow.

Not sure where this post started,,,,,,, My '99 9_3 has a buzzing sound coming from the inside right firewall area, sounds like it comes from above the passengers feet. This buzzing occurs anytime the engine is brought above 2150rpm, even sitting still and bringing the engine speed up. I can not hear the sound from within the engine bay with the hood up and my ear cocked that direction. It has done this since about ~35k miles.

I have recently noticed that applying the brake stops the buzz, both while sitting still and while under way. It seems this may have something to do with vacuam. The buzzing sounds like some sort of motor that may be running.

Anyone know if there is a vacuam/emmisions motor/pump/valve/whatever in the passenger firewall area? Car drives fine, the buzzing is irritating.

Any other 9-3's buzzing around?
