Considering purchasing a 1996 900S 5-door

Hello all,

The thing I keep hearing about Saabs in general is the hefty repair costs. Does this apply also to the GM-manufactured models? Thank you for any and all replies.

The reply is: especially the GM models. However, while it is under warranty, the repair cost is low :-) I bought a GM Saab and had (hopefully) most of the problems fixed under warranty. It was in the shop for repairs 6 times in the first month for electrical components alone. In one case the new GM electrical components failed again in less than 24 hours. The repaired items have been working fine since then. Three issues remain: a weak AC, the car pulls to the left, and possibly a slightly out of balance half shaft. The AC/Heater in the GM Saabs have a reputation for being weak, this was fixed in the 1999 models. The GM

1994-1998? Saabs can't adjust caster and camber, only toe in. I can live with the half shaft since it shakes the front end only under hard acceleration in a narrow speed range. Take it easy through that speed range and it does not shake.
