Cost of 'parts'

Jun 13, 2005 2 Replies

Hi I'm considering coming back to SAABs from a forray into the BMW world.

For the immediate term, I'm thinking of buying a 9-5 2.3 Aero Auto, which has covered 115,000 miles. (built in 2000)

I hear that the turbos are stronger, as is the gearbox on the auto 9-5. Can anyone agree or disagree with this?

What should I be looking out for?? I hear that a replacement turbo would be around £500 fitted, as would a gearbox overhaul.

How about the price of a catalytic converter? Is there anything which is prone to 'going' on these cars, at this age / mileage.

Cheers

Paul

2000 onward, 9-5 autos are known to be virtually bulletproof.

Paul I would sign up to the turbo listserve and post your question there as= were as there has been a lot of discussion about this as of late.

And from 2002, you'll get the much better 5-speed autobox...
