lost ACC buttons to vacuum!

I was at the local self wash and was using their vacuum to clean out the inside of my 1990 Saab 9000T. As I've done in the past, I ran the vacuum over the dash and especially over the vents to try to get as much dirt/dust as possible.

Much to my horror the vacuum sucked the button covers off of two button on my ACC unit. The buttons are still there and work, but the top plastic pieces are gone so lots of light now shine through the buttons.

Just thought I would warn other owners of older Saabs to be careful.

Any ideas on how to get replacements? My ACC works fine and I'm not going to spend lots of $$ for two little pieces of plastic!

Unfortunately most scrap yards here in upstate New York don't seem to carry Saabs! GRRR! Next time I'm traveling to the Boston area I might try a scrap yard there...

Your experience is fairly universal, unfortunately. I've only ever seen one Saab in a scrap yard - my first one, before I knew better :)

It's a long-shot, but what about asking the place you did the vacuuming if you can empty their bag, so to speak? You'd be amazed what you find when you go through a vaccy bag.

Good luck searching for your replacements.
