Squeaky SAAB 900s

Hi there,

1998 SAAB 900s 2.0 ltr model, 138,000 miles.

I had 2nd gear fixed a few months ago and since then and the onset of colder weather whenever I first run the car on a cold morning here in the UK there is a loudish squeaking sound coming from the passenger side of the car this squeaking subsides after about 4 to 5 miles, any ideas as to what could be causing it?

I've had the car back to the garage and they can only think it is something to do with the suspension not anything to do with their work on the gearbox oh and replacing the engine mounts? They say it is safe to drive but I would like to know and perhaps cure the problem, as I say once I've driven a few miles the squeaking disappears.

Anyone know of a good reliable SAAB garage/mechanic near Bradford, West Yorkshire?

Many thanks for any pointers, Tim.

He is a C900 specialist, but I'm sure he would take a look if you ask nicley as he does NG900 work.

Tim,

I've used Aeromotive of Birstall for my last three Saabs. They're happy with really old to really new - contact 01924 422200. They're just down to chain bar, right at Birkenshaw roundabout, down into Birstall and up towards Batley Cricket Club on the Morley road - very near Ikea :)

Cheers,

Paul

The squaking sound is no problem. Allmost all Saabs 900 and 9-3 have this problem in cold weather. Mine does not have it yet, but my former car did. Don't pay attention to it. You can solve it bij greasing the bushings a bit but it will come back next winter. Adios, Robert

Yep, common issue. Has nothing to do with the work you had done.

This isn't just slack altenator belts is it? Hence the squeak on cold mornings when charging is max. Or is this squeak definitely related to suspension movement?
