My first impression of the Saturn Ion-2

I used to own a Saturn SL1. I just drove a 2004 new Ion-2. The Ion-2 is awesome and great fun to drive. It handles like a sports car. I can't get over how well it takes turns and accelerates.

Suggestions for improvements (I'm 6'4"):

1) The center console next to the driver's right leg needs to be made narrower. I need 2" of additional leg space for my right leg.

2) The steering wheel tilt adjustment needs to go up an additional 1"

- 1.5". There is not enough space between the steering wheel and my right thigh.

3) The back seat needs 2" of additional interior height.

I prefer the Ion-2 to the L series. The Ion-2 is wonderful--just designed for smaller people.

Yep, I love my Ion3 QC. It's my third Saturn and in my opinion is the best yet as far as the compact size cars they've made. I think the L series is ok but it's not for me. I've previously owned a new 94 SC2 that I put

40,000 plus on and a new 98 SL2 that I put 120,000 on and did some bolt on mods to. After having my Ion3 for about a month now I can truly say that I feel it is built more solid than the other two and really is the best in that regard. I know a lot of people here have expressed dislike for the Ion's and I will admit the first time I ever drove or saw one I thought no way. However that has obviously changed.

I've noticed a nice improvement in the '04 Ion Quad Coupe versus the '03 in terms of handling.

The larger wheels, and slightly different suspension make driving the '04 pretty fun, even if it only has 140HP. Changes to the VTi have helped give it a little oomph.

The '03 was okay, but too light in the back, and a little squirrelly at speed.

I can't wait to get my hands on an '04 Ion Red Line.... 200HP... vroom vroom :)
