We replaced the ODO gear on our '93 SL1 a few years ago. It's not an easy job, the gear is tiny and hard to get to. The design flaw is one cause for the gear to keep breaking, which it did about a year after we replaced it. I have heard of a metal gear replacement, don't know where to get it though.

Does anyone have a step by step procedure to do this? Also, are there metal gears out there that would be a better fix?
