quick questions

I have a 94 Saturn SL1. I was just told I have an oil leak, "but that's because all Saturn's are like that," I was told. Has anyone heard that? Also, one of the new noises my saturn is making- it's a high pitch noise that sounds like it's coming from either underneath the car, the tires, or in the back on the car. It tends to do it when I'm going faster and it's loud. But of course it doesn't do it all the time or when I bring it anywhere. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi and welcome!

Contrary to whay Saturn will say, there is actually a documented issue with

1st gen SL models especially Sl2's consuming oil. But you say "leaking"? no, not normal, but on our older babys this can happen that the head gasket gets old and eventually needs to be replaced. We have had to do it on our 93 SL1 and 94 SL2. Best to do it before it becomes a major problem, it will be less expensive.

The squeal you hear sounds like a typical Serpentine belt noise??? You might want to have it checked to see if it can either be cleaned, tightened, or most likely changed.

All normal stuff to do in the life of a Saturn :-) marx404

I think you might have meant to say valve cover gasket because thats a more common cause for oil leakage.

Sounds more like it could be a wheel bearing since the noise gets louder when he drives faster.
