SES light

I got an SES light on my 1996 SL2 with 148,000 miles on it.

Had Autozone read the codes and they are:

P0404 P0341 P0404

Notice the 1st and last codes are the same. I believe the P0404 is supposed to be a bad camshaft sensor. The SL2 doesn't have one. The P0341 is supposed to be some sort of EGR problem.

Anyone have any clues where to start? The car is bucking when at a steady speed. I have changed the plugs and the wires have around

30,000 miles on them.

Thanks!

Paul.

P0404: EGR Valve Pintle Position error

P0341: Cylinder Detect Signal Error (Too Many Pulses).

My guess:

341: Replace your plugs and wires. The Saturn uses a capacitive sensor off of the ignition coil pack to determine the camshaft position. It gets confused by bad plugs / wires.

404: Time for a new EGR valve.

Or he doesn't have the 1-4 wires routed correctly.

Well,

Replaced the EGR valve last night ($120) and got the codes cleared. Car doesn't buck anymore and SES light has staid off so far. Maybe the P0404 was a ghost code?
