Any radiator shop worth its salt should be able to recore a radiator in a couple of days..

I was thinking of sending it to the guy in PA because the prices down here are out of control. Also I've found that few people are motivated to give a quick turnaround on anything old or with "special instructions."

I've heard that the late 55 had a different top tank and was designed for the higher pressure caps. The stock 53 takes only a 7 Lb cap.

That is true, I have a late '55 radiator (lucky me!) so the one in the car will be the one recored.

I think I have a couple used ones around- condition not known. One came out of my hot running '53 Commander K. I installed a NOS radiator I had and the car still ran hot, so... I'm 55 miles from Tyson's Corner if that helps. Paul Johnson

Just might. Am supposed to drop off my heater core at a local rad. shop tomorrow but I am thinking for the rad. will probably go with Elizabeth Radiator as he got a good recommend and also seems like he knows what he's doing and knows Studes. I'm about 5 miles from Tyson's the other way so the drive is doable (I work in Sterling, probably about 45 min. from you) I'll let you know and I appreciate the help
