A 1998 forester was throwing this code. Reseating the electrical connector at the sensor stopped this. Dielectric grease was applied to the pins of he connector to prevent this from happening again. Then it starting throwing a code for the knock sensor. Reseating the electrical connector at the sensor fixed this too and dielectric grease was also applied. No codes since.
