2WD fuse question

Aug 09, 2004 4 Replies

Hello, A friend of mine has a late 90's Legacy. This car will not go into the 2WD mode despite whether or not the fuse is in. The fuse is good. Is this a common problem? Does anyone know what is wrong with it? thank you Jokitty Ps. Subaru's rock!

You don't mention it: Is the car automatic? The fuse only works with automatics...

This in a 1996 subaru Legacy Brighton. Automatic trans.

How do you know it is not in FWD mode?

My auto Legacy only goes into AWD mode when the front wheels slip. It then goes back into FWD mode over 60 km/h. Putting a fuse in the FWD socket simply prevents the first transition to AWD and is not noticable unless you have zero traction at the front for some reason.
