The bulb that lights up my gears next to the shifter between the seats just went out. I have a 97 Subaru Outback. Is there an easy way to replace it?

For my 95 Legacy, I just need to remove the radio panel and then I can see the two bolts holding the plastic cover of the gears. Remove the bolts and lift the cover, you'll see the bulb.
