Forester Engine 2001 trouble

Jan 13, 2004 2 Replies

Only 43000 miles and the engine intermittently hesitates, bucks, surges, flat out stalls at a stop, gas pedal gives no response for 5 seconds. Have replaced coil pack, plugs, wires, PCV, adjusted TPS...all for nothing. Now off to the dealer (for a hosing) (no, not a housing).

Anyone else have this problem? How did you get rid of it (or the vehicle)?

You did not mention a new fuel filter or water in the gas or the MAP sensor. eddie

Eddie, Thanks for the ideas. Haven't tried the fuel filter or MAP sensor yet. Did try new tank of high test and dry gas. Could the MAP sensor make the engine run so poorly?

Thanks

Ben
