Is the '99 Legacy's 2.2L interference engine?

I've just bought this car and there are no records of the timing belt been ever changed. The mileage on the odometer is questionable too, so I am trying to decide whether I should change the belt right away or if it can wait...

a '98 engine was non-interference, but not '99. Is that true?

If the spark plugs are oriented at an angle to the heads, it is non-interference. If the plugs come straight out from the top of the head, it is interference.
