teach in school, that a mix of 50-50 oil/stp is the preferred > mixture

Can't say if it's "preferred" today, but I know it's been a good "cheap and dirty" ass'y lube since at least the mid-60s...

It works, and I can't say I've heard anybody badmouth it. I use straight STP, figuring the oil will take over quickly anyway.
