I have a '96 OB (auto tranny) with about 225K miles, and it has had the well-documented low speed shudder while turning, (i.e. parking lots, etc.), since about 150K miles. I believe the fix is replacing the clutch pack (?), in the neighborhood of $500 + labor.
As an alternative to repairing it, I am considering putting in (or is it taking out?) the fuse that defeats the AWD function. I figure I can always put it back in this winter, as needed. I'm wondering:
1) will this address the shudder problem?2) will it do any damage to the vehicle, keeping the AWD suppressed for a long duration?
Thanks!
