Will it help to run the gas very slow toward the end of the fill? I do that and it seems to work. Another thing I do is fill at the max flow rate till the flow stops itself then restart and fill as slow as the nozzle will let me. I do not fill too much as that reeks havoc on the charcoal canister a fuel vapor recovery system.

In my original note I pointed out that this is slightly more dangerous and has already resulted in a spill on the paint (had to immediately head to a carwash for that one.) I said: "I tried filling up my STi properly by easing up on the flow near the top of my tank, and the g-d thing ended up spilling all over my paintjob!"
