RE:Subaru in the US

Subaru is totally owned subsidiary of Fuji Heavy Industries of Japan.

Suzuki, not Subaru, is 20% owned by GM.

subaru.com website has links to global/world info, also info on the Subaru/Isuzu joint assembly plant in Indiana.

Kevin, notwithstanding your status as a wholly "independent Amsoil dealer", you seem to be not getting the GM/Subaru relationship.

Yes, FHI owns Subaru...however, FHI is 20% owned by GM. Byron posted a link to FHI's own page discussing that status.

GM's got a piece of Saab, too...didja know that?

Steve

In fact, GM sells the Forester in India as a Chevrolet.

Umm, not since around 1995. GM bought the other 50% of Saab then. They also own Daewoo now, and a good chunk of Fiat (with Fiat holding the option to force GM to buy the rest of them). Also Opel, and Vauxhall too, I believe.
