The "P" switch on the steering column

Please forgive my stupidity, but what exactly does that "P" switch that sits on top of the steering column do?

Parking lights on/off switch.

The "P" stands for Plasma Cannon. Flipping the switch will bring up an interface that allows you to fire plasma bolts to blow up the gigantic SUVs that block your view of the open road.

That's the Subaru Automatic Battery Drain Switch. Don't use it. It will turn on your parking lights regardless of ignition key position, you will forget to turn them off, and you will have a dead battery.

Make absolutely certain you turn the switch off if you decide to use it. It overides the automatic off function when the ignition switch is turned off. It'll easily run down your batteries.

My canon is out of plasma. Where is the refill tube? :)

You might try reading your plasma owner's manual. ..fm Or try a google groups search of this newsgroup for "plasma"+"cel" (check engine light)

You could take this as an opportunity to upgrade to an aftermarket Photon torpedo.

"Passive battery discharge" Useful if you are shopping for a new battery because you are tired of the look of your old one.

Thats for the "P"hone so you can call the dealer pissed off asking why the hell wont the parking lights shut off.

Only on the STi. For all other models, it is under the passenger seat. Then if the AFSR (Auditory Female Speed Restrictor) gets a little loud, hit the button twice and... there will be only engine noise.

Shjeeeezz -- when I press my "P" switch, my photon canon doesn't do anything now; other than turning my $%$#% parking lights on! My AFSR is still noisy.

I took the advice and installed that aftermarket Photon Torpedo but must have blown out the 100 GigaAmp fuse in my cold fusion reactor. What does it look like and where did they hide that thing?

"P"ersonal Autopilot those guys at Subaru WR Team have it installed in their cars. (Drivers are just actors now, have been for years, just like the US presidents ;o) ). Its now filtered down to the regular road production units however it hasn't got WR winning autopilot algorithims installed, you can get the WR flash upgrade to your ECU, scooby aftermarket dealers do this on the black market (Subaru dont want Mitsubushi running their autopilot)

Switch it on and go to sleep on the motorway!! It has teething problems tho, The first time I used it I woke up in A and E despite telling it to go to Edinburgh 3 times, guess the voice recognition technology isnt as good as it should be. Then to top it all off, while i was asking the staff at the local hospital how to get home as the sodding car found its own way to the scrap yard, It looked like it had driven 15 stages in a WR judging by the condition might have roll itself too cause the roof was caved in? Bloody battery is dead too. :o(

Hopefully Subaru will iron this out soon...
