Wheel bearings?

Hi All,

Subi Forester 2006

How often should I change my wheel bearings?

Many thanks,

Repack with grease after 30K miles, or every 2 years. I tend to go by mileage since I put so few miles on my car. Every 2 years would have me getting cleaned and repacked after only 3000 miles. If "change" meant replaced then after 80K to 120K miles. I'd not bother replacing them until they make noise (grinding, or clunking in turns), or my shop recommends replacement, like during a rotation and they spin the wheel to listen for noise. Of course, if you often torture your car by slamming it around and slopping into mud while off-roading, you'll have to replace them sooner. Few off-road cars actually go off-road other than maybe a dry dirt road.

Your car didn't come with an owner's manual, or there is no table showing the maintenance/service levels for that car?

That shows that just an inspection is suggested at 120K miles; however, shit happens, so listen for grinding noise while driving, clunking in the turns, and wandering when driving straight. You'll know how much you punish your so-called off-roading vehicle, so you might want to have them inspected more often, like when you get an alignment.

The car is just loud and getting louder. And I am really close to 120K.

Thank you!
