1996 Ford Contour 2.0L Zetech - Mystery Stall!

Update on Cat-: Replaced by dealer. Continue to stall on cold/first start of morning. Dealer could not find anything.

Family garage found that cam(or)crankshaft sensor connection(which ever is closest to being hit by catalytic pipe) was in fact hit by pipe and badly cracked. Garage epoxied it together. Continued cold stalls.

Garage found fuel filter severely contaminated - replaced, and mpg shot up by 10mpg. STILL cold stalls.

Everything that is user-replaceable - filters, etc. - is new/in good condition. All electrical and vacuum OK. Garage stated transmission not problem since car only stalls when cold.

Can you folks think of something. Don't worry. The most ridiculous suggestion here will probably be what solves the problem. : )
