93 Lesabre ByPass Hose Problem

Hi All: Here is another lame Mr Goodwrench design: Last year I replaced all hoses except for the bypass because I didn't get around to taking off the alternator to get at the hose. Last week my wife called and said that the car overheated. I called AAA to get it towed. When I looked under the hood I found that the bypass hose did not break ,in fact it was still in pretty good shape. The stupid plastic pipe fitting that screws into to block snaped off. What garbage design! Plastic interfacing with a hot engine=eventual brittle plastic. The mechanic that repaired it put in metal pipe fitting which is what should have been installed on the assembly line.

When you replace heater hoses for preventive maintanance, you don't expect to find threaded plastic fittings that need to be replaced.

No more American junk boxes for me. I've had it.
