A/C clutch turning

Aug 12, 2003 1 Replies
1988 Chevy Nova. I notice that even when the a/c is not on, the front part of the compressor (clutch? rotor?) is turning very slightly. I am also getting noise from there. Any ideas?

Your A/C clutch is worn due to age. There is still some rubbing with the power off and that causes the hub to spin slightly. However there is no torque to turn the compressor.
