Car wax question

Is the water repelling ability of a car wax important? One way to quantify this is to note the angle that the edge of the bead of water makes with the waxed surface. I applied two waxes to my car: Blitz (carnauba) and Meguiar's Medallion (polymer). The edges of the Blitz water beads stand nearly straight up, meaning that this surface strongly repels water, whereas the water beads on the Meguiar's side were sloped inwards (doesn't really try to repel water). Both sides gathered the same amount of dust after one week. Evening dew forms more readily on the Blitz side. Do these things mean anything useful about the wax?
