car won't start when cold and damp

I have a 93 mazda 323 which will crank but won't start when it is below freezing. Everytime when it refuse to start I will just open up the hood and use a hair dryer (don't laugh) to blow some hot air onto the distributor, the plug wires, the ignition coil and the lead. After I do this for 1 minute the car will start right away. This method never failed.

My question: what's wrong with my car and how can I fix it ? This problem first appeared right after I washed my car on a very cold day.

Remove the distributor cap and dry it off inside. it's the only place I can imagine that the water would be trapped for that long.
