cause of overheat

Try flushing the whole cooling system (block and radiator). See if that helps. Make sure there's no loss of pressure in the system. Get the system pressure tested. It maybe as simple as the pressure cap. Provided none of this advice helps, I would suspect a plugged radiator.

One of the most common and undiagnosed causes of overheating is partially plugged radiator core and nipples. The only way to reduce this problem is to back flush with a good quality radiator/cooling system cleanter that removes the scaling. On my 10 year old Dodge, I did just that and the temp guage never exceeds beyond half mark even idling in hot sun.

Another cause of overheat is too high a concentration of antifreeze. More is NOT better. Make sure it's not over 50% - unless you live in upper Minnessota.

You can run up to 70% in the winter, but in summer most that run that thick change to 50/50 if they are towing a trailer or anything like that because it 'will' overheat.
