I have what is probably bad (hopefully dirty) digital EGR (triple solenoid variety) valve on my '94 Grand Prix. Trouble code is pointing to this and I am experiencing a rough idle and hesitation. I would like to try to clean it myself as fund$ are currently low.
1.) My first (hurried) attempt at this failed miserably as I could not figure out how to get the electrical connector at the top of the valve to release! I am not AS MUCH of a newb as that statement would lead to but does it just pop off or is there a trick to disconnecting it? Other than that I think it was just two bolts but I was a little timid yanking too hard on the connector and so I aborted trying to remove it.2.) When I DO disconnect the EGR valve, is there a method to clean it out? I believe it is sticking. (Car sometimes stalls upon starting, sometime races at high idle, hesitates at stop signs, etc) I read in another post to "use about half a can of carb cleaner on it" Is that decent advice?
Thanks
