Linkage problems. Mounting problems. Worn bearings. All kinds of stuff can cause that. Some folks will claim worn synchronizers, but I doubt that. It would help to know what kind of transmission and what kind of car. Been doing annual fluid changes and making sure the fluid level is good every now and then?
