in terms of safety, is it necessary to match the front and rear tires? my front tires are worn out so I need to replace them, should I replace rear tires as well?

It's preferable to have all four tires equal, but when that is not possible due to economic reasons make sure the better tires are on the rear.
If you have an AWD vehicle, all tires must match.
